Something Odd With Ochiba

Anybody remember Jumanji, the scrawny 6" GR Ochiba I bought (and posted pics of here) back in March? S/he's 13" now, and the colors on its head is changing yet again--or at least I thought that was going on, until I was taking some pics yesterday and noticed a raised round grey patch on the left gill plate. Jumanji let me touch and inspect it, and the patch IS raised and is very rough, spikey almost, like a cat's tongue.

What on earth IS this?

Sorry about the poor pics and glare. If I could just get someone else on the camera while I hold the Ju, I could get a good close up.

Notice that on the right gill plate a similar spot emerging, but this one is smooth leather, not kitty-tongue sandpaper rough.

ProformC

I too have an ochiba with the same kind of patch on the same place. I treated with ProformC and it eventually went away, not leaving a scar.

Hi Carolyn

Did you ever find out what it was?

Don't know

It was scoped, of course, but nothing showed up except one costia. Ich was mentioned, but nothing conclusive. It did take several weeks to go away, but progress was seen in about a week after treatment.

Hard to tell from the picture. Could it possibly be lymphocystis? There is a treatment for that with acriflavin. You can find it on koivet.

Sorry, but what Marie is showing and describing is NOT Lymphocystis. It looks like a cold water viral infection of sorts, but then again, who's to say from pictures.
