It sure is not the food (me don't like)...I think it is the experiance of the whole trip. meeting and visiting with breeders, watching mud ponds being drained seeing the fish as they come up. The country itself is so spectacular... And spending all your husbands money shopping and he don't care, because your shopping for fish..

I know Shirleen loves the food. No secret there...hahahaha...I think the fact you can go to Japan, have a good time and meet new friends...Just laugh and have a good time sharing the hobby that we all have in common. I have met some special people in Japan and I am glad I went on the same trip the Horimotos did to Momotaro...Shirleen next year for Goldfish....I have to say Steve H got some nice Ranchus...

Going to Japan will always be special to me cause that is where I met my extended Family Kenneth and Shir. I try to go every year to meet them in Japan so we can look at koi, eat and laugh.

This year is very sad to me cause I will not be there to see their friendly faces greet me at the Airport. This is the 1st year in many that I will not see my Koi buying pals in koi mecca. The drinking eating and non stop laughing (moslty at Kevin) and frequent stops at 7 eleven to get Rice crackers and Ice Cream brings sadness to my heart.

I have taken what I have learned from my many special trips and applied it to my Solo journey's now in Japan. One thing I can always count on to make me smile is the Best SPECIAL times I had in Japan with Many who I have traveled to Japan with but More than most I will always remember the time I met Kenneth and Shirleen..

Joe

Well I'm not sure because I haven't been there yet? I can almost feel how cool it could be ya know! I can tear up some Japanese food for shure, and enjoy seeing koi all day long. But I too would like to create memories like most of you who have gone, with friends associated with koi and or good company. Of course I'm talking about all the Koi Unit family. Nothing better than rolling with homies. I'm glad a few of us were able to make it even if it was a last minute thing. I want to see some pictures dammit!

Peace!

Wow, where can I begin...

Ever since I've arrived in Japan last year, I have to say that the one consistant thing that keeps shocking me time and time again is the unique spirit and sincereness of the Japanese people. In the one year that I have travelled (and gotten lost) around Japan.

I have been to Sapporo, Misawa, Tokyo, Yokohama, Nagoya, and many other areas throughout Honshu and Hokkaido and know matter where I have been, the helpfulness and sometimes overwhelming-kindness of the Japanese people has left me speechless on a number of occasions. As bad as my Japanese is (still learning) they continue to go out of their way to keep smiles on our faces. Something I have never experienced...even in Hawaii.

Of course "THE FOOD IS AWESOME!" (And I haven't even seen any koi yet )

Nama biru, Otoro and Uni for dinner tonight! Oishi ne...

Ive never been, but ive heard some stories...

Somone in my psychology class said he was bar hopping with some buddies there, and dropped his wallet... he didn't notice, but they drove home... In the morning he realized it was gone and went to the last place he bought a drink... It wasnt there... he ended up calling the police, and someone had turned it in... come to find out it was about a 30 minute ride to the closest police station... and once he got there he imagined that whoever turned it in would have taken out the money... but nope... everything was still there, and the person who returned it didn't even leave their name...

he basically said that the people there were a whole lot more unified and caring than anyone he had ever known, and they acted more like brothers than strangers...

I want to go so bad...

it will be a long time though...
