What makes this Sanke's pattern balance....If knowing what the future of this fish looks like now, would you have bought it as a tosai...?

I certainly would have bet against it and passed- only to kick myself later after seeing this adult picture! JR

HAHAHA, yeah Grant used this pic as an example...I would have to say as the hands were raised on who would pass, 80% of the membership would have passed on it as tosai.

Kato-san truly has an eye for koi.

But seriously, I think that's OK, because 90% of the young fish that look this way ( skimpy pattern) will crash and burn. One of the reasons that this fish looks 'special' is because with that quality and that body line, it call pull that pattern off. Not many koi could make that pattern work. Even the nose shiro quality and face shape work with that head pattern. JR

I think that only a breeder would recognize this as a future Koi, possibly a professional that understands the bloodline.
