I would purchase the koromo, and just see what would happen, it looks like a pretty cool fish and I would love to see how it turns out.

Looking at the pictures IMHO I believe the sanke to be slightly better than the koromo. Ther's a bit too much sumi on the left dorsal area for my taste and the fish definitely looks male. The koromo has very poor pectoral fins and there is ippon hi on the shoulder that I'm afraid will increase. Just my opinion from pictures. I wouldn't pay more than $25-$50 for either, but then again, neither of these would be my selection.

Tony,
These fish were bought wholesale at a lot less than $50. They were about half of what small 50-lots of Japanese go for. Like the Japanese small koi, some in the box are better than others.

Mike,
Here is another shot of one of the pecs. Both pecs look similar to me. I sort of thought the pectoral fins were attractive on this koi. What is the main problem with them?

I don't know if you can put another photo in when you edit. Anyway I brightened up the pec picture a little.

Well, actually the fins should be clean, just as on kohaku. I know koromo are judged more forgivingly at shows, but this would be considered a major fault. Other than that they do have a sense of attraction for being "outside the norm".

See what I mean??

How big is is Jas? If the Koromo and the Sanke were Japanese, I wonder what value Kodama-kun would put on those koi if he was going to auction them off?
