Supaverm

Does anyone know were to get supaverm in bulk containers? Having hard time getting it, seems England decided to regulate it.

I thought it was illegal in the US.

It is a sheep dip that has not been approved for use in aquaculture.

Nancy, I sent you a PM on a possible lead.

As far as the use of supaverm, I tend to follow Duncan Griffith's position on Supaverm. I think that there are too many unknowns about its long term use. He is reporting observations and suspicion that it has a supressive affect on the immune system of koi that have been treated several times with it. I have also seen the results of a very bad reaction to the use of supaverm on a doitsu ochiba wherein the skin was sluffing off. Others have reported the same. Yet other folks who have used it over the years have not had any problems. As far as I know there has been only one study published on the use of supaverm in ridding a koi of flukes. If anyone knows of anyothers (other than C.J. Marshall's) please let me know as I would like to read them.

It is a sheep dip and its use on fish is an off label use. The vets who oversee the KHA program do not recommend its use.

Steve

I HATE supaverm. I used it this year for the first time. I followed the directions exactly. First of all..I had 2 koi/goldfish hybrids-5yrs old. I read it would not affect them...dead in 3 days. After a week, many of my fish started to look sick. I lost 3 koi...one was a favorite!!! The others that looked lousy ended up recovering well. I will stick with praziquantel..it may cost more, but completely worth it. I wish I had never even heard of supaverm!!!
