Asagi......

This is a nisai reversed asagi... very nice, but it does not have any hi.
Does it mean that this will be an asagi without hi or the hi can be developed later....

Dick, we all were thinking about you when we saw this reversed asagi....We hope the Santa heard yoru wish;-))

thanks for the post and thinking of me...always enjoy seeing asagi that have possibilities.

My personal experience is all with konjo or narumi asagi and not reverse. With the former 2 I always at this age look for tight red in the pecs, some red in the cheeks ( love to see the outline of the gill plate ) and just a hint of red in the tail. Red should barely be showing down by the belly and well away from the lateral line. usually then the next year red slips up the side a row or two and shows a dot somewhere along the dorsal. the longer it takes for red to get to where it's going the better they finish. I have not had any luck myself in having red suddenly appear on a koi such as the one pictured. Granted I don't feed color food or have water that favors red either.

Would be nice if santa found a reverse for me so i could begin the learning curve on them.....

speaking of asagi has anyone seen a tancho asagi? I saw one last week at Champion Koi in San Jose but it was sold already so Tom is keeping an eye on another one for me. It has a perfect round red dot on an asagi the most unusual koi I have seen. Russell and Kari P. can you please also keep an eye out for me if you ever come across one.
Thank you
Dennis

hey Dennis, out of curiosity from a benching stand point would you be entering that desired koi as asagi or tancho?

Tancho in Asagi is not a naturally occuring form, like gosanke or Goshiki, so was just curious to get his expectation. While I have seen some ogon and matsuba types as well that could best be discribed an "tancho" if i recall they were entered in the basic class to compete not as Tancho
