Yeah, okay. I'll cop to it being a four step. But you haven't won the washer and dryer or the home game yet, Mickey. There are 3 of them in the line up.

Which one did I choose, and any idea why?

Marie the Incorrigible
I think No.1 . From the photo it has the best shiro and the best skin IMHO. And the pattern looks good too.

Cheers

My oldest granddaughter, the Queen Bee, is almost 13 years old. She has had maybe 6 "first loves" already with full blown swooning. I will not say Marie is just a little girl, but she is a girl and she had blown up pics of No. 1 scotch taped to her wall before the net was even emptied. No amount of reasoning can overtake an infatuation like that. No. 1.

I like the even appearance, in the pic, of the red in No. 7. The very large pattern and the white nose appeal to me also. Too bad about the lips-a little schmaltzy.

I have a fish like No. 8 with pattern stretched onto the face and onto the tail. The coloration of the red shouldn't be a concern if RR has faith in it. It's shape is long, and smoothly tapered and if this is your pick, cool. Give her a mess of Persimmon water next year.

I want the washer and dryer set that looks like the dashboard of a 62 T-bird, please, Mr. Trebeck.

Nisai Harvest

First and foremost Congradulations on your koi husbandry. I normally only purchases Japan Breed koi but after seeing a few of your harvest this year I would seriously consider your kohaku. Good Job.

Nothing gets by you, Mickey. *shakes head* Nope. Not you. (Or Mr. Bradley, with whom you have to share your winnings!)

Yes my friends, it is the lovely bachelorette #1 that stole my heart, and let me tell you it was hard to trump the handsome pearl ginrin boy, but I just couldn't bear to take that incredible fellow out of Rich's tategoi pond--he needs him there more than I need him here.

How about a stroll down memory lane?

I just so happen to have a fry pic of her, something I pirated from Richard sometime early last summer. Yes Micky, she had caught my eye even back then. Can you see her in that writhing mass of persimmon and shiro?

And yeah, she didn't even get out of the pond before I spotted her again in the seine:

So yeah, seeing her here was love at first sight:

This is by far the most luminous kohak I've ever seen and I can't wait to see her in my pond.

Any reasons why I shouldn't pick her?

Marie

That was my pick from the beginning. Glad to see you stuck to your guns. I don't think you will be disappointed. Great Choice!

Yep, I remember that, and I've always admired your eye. It only started to get confusing once the sankes popped up, but in the end I had to vote for no sumi, because I already have enough black in my pond and I have no desire to breed sanke. So that basically cut the field in half.

Know how I finally made my choice? Since I couldn't see them all swimming together in a tank, I printed out all the kohaku pics, cut them each to size, laid them all together like they're lazing in a pond and just gazed. The others faded into the carpet while my tigerlily girl held my eye until I was breathless.
