Koi Jumping

Over the past 5 days some of our koi have been jumping (the larger ones). I live in Florida, the pond is approx. 7000 gallons, I had the water tested last night and the person said the quality was virtually perfect. This is a liner pond, aquascape signature series, 2 pumps-2 biofalls, aprox. 3 ft. deep with shelves. Can anyone give me any ideas? The fish have been in this pond for approx. 6 months-we had them moved from a previous residence-2 koi's are about 3 ft. long, the rest (7) are about 20 inches long. (when we moved them we immediatley had baby koi's show up-they are all still small approx. 25 of them about 2-3 inches long).

I took a water specimen to the local exotic fish store (where we've bought koi) and he ran the tests on the water (4 vials??-that he put chemicals in) and said all readings were perfect. We have an ultraviolet sterilizer on the pond, the light went out about three weeks ago and I was planning on changing it this weekend. What do I need to look for for parasites??

No on the first three, the weather has cooled down (we've had a couple of cool downs so far-but no jumping with the previous cool downs). I did put some plant tabs in for the lilies about 2-3 weeks ago. My wife sees them more than I do. She says they'll jump up (almost sideways) and then go straight down to the bottom and just sit there. I've heard them at night (leave the window open-no lights-you just hear a splash).

I would get a microscope and scrape and scope for parisites. Also would recommend you buying your own test kit, and test your own water.
What are your water temps? If you need to treat pond, temps are very important.
If you need help, try contacting your local koi club, if you are not sure who it is go to www.akca.org you can click on your state and find the nearest one.

That would be a good guess, but still just that...a guess. For me, flukes are the easiest thing to find on a scope.

But not enough information to treat from, but then you didnt say that

over the years of following various koi chat lines, this has been one of my favs.....
the one I liked best was one where the individuals' koi were chasing bugs by jumping after them in the evening just like trout!

When i suggested they may have bugs themselves ( or there may be a PH swing happening ) the response I got was one of disbelief!

so my advice is check PH in am and again in pm ( dawn and dusk is good)
and then talk your KHA advisor if you don't have a microscope to do a scrape and yes I'd be betting on flukes!
