I would concur

Tancho tend to have notoriusly unstable beni. For me it is just not worth it.

I don't disagree with the caution statements here about unstable beni BUT
i think it gradually gets better with age till around 3 when things are a lot better to ship/expose to stress.Tosai risk is huge, nissai is 50-50......

Of course the other side of the koi is by the time it gets 3 years old to purchase it will be very expensive.

always one for compromise, is this koi available or in a position where you could pay for a mud pond and delay shipping/stress and still purchase while it's affordable? So that by the time it gets holder and more stable your in a better position to decide?

Tanchos are nearly always way over priced and there is huge risk they will disappoint.
