I agreed. 4 ft seemed to be an ideal deepth for best viewing.

if the water is crystal clear,there shouldn't be a problem seeing fish at 7-8 ft deep.

I agree, no problems seeing fish at those depths. Catching is not that hard either if you have a good net, and know how to use it.
