Hi Russ, thanks for posting the pics....I was hopeful more folks would have responded before I did, cause i was certain you would have seen varying opinions based on the strength of the pattern. Since being a mstunosuke fan for over 3 decades, I have learned that size and quality is his strong points.
I would always pick his koi as #1. Once a koi slips into about size 5, pattern begins to mean less and less and quality begins to mean more and more . Hard to believe the size and age of the kohaku from toshio.....If you had not
posted this koi and i had a choice between the other two, I'm afraid my asagi hero would rank #3, altho I must add in all fairness that this man has been very impressive not to rest on his asagi/shusui laurels and has aggressively sought to breed many first class color varieties and has been very sucessful at it! Lots of credit and respect for his and his son's efforts! Toshio's son is now over his apprenticeship, and working for/with his dad. Will be of interest to see his contribution in the future. BTW his daughter is a Grad of the University of Washington ( Huskies) which won over cross state rival State in what is known locally as the "apple Cup" today....
