I actually liked it better than the Kohaku
But the Kohaku was bigger and had better conformation
I think the Sanke has improved since your picture

I think that sanke looked better and I was there about 2 weeks later from when Rob took that pic..

My first pic of Ryu X was from the AJKS. This was the one from October. They had high hopes for this one. Congratulations goes to Giel.

Sorry Mike, I don't remember talking about this sanke and the red eye. I actually thought that this sanke was better than the Marudo Kohaku.

Isn't this the fish that was in the tank in the left corner from the GC tank. I remember talking about one of Momotaro's sanke that was in the aforementioned tank. It was absolutely a killer fish but we laughed about the "red on the eye" thing as it seemed like it was more a Western" thing in judging. Doesn't seem to bother the Japanese at all when the quality is this good!!

Hey Mike,

That sanke was not the Kokugyo winner. Ryu X was the 5th runner up at the AJKS and was not in the winners circle. I think this is the one you're thinking of. I really don't recall talking about that red eye. I do remember talking about how the Westerners are so obsessed with having a white face, when at the AJKS, the majority of the large show winners have that fleshy look to it.
