My Koi

Hi

twice a year I measure all my koi and take pictures. Once in spring, when they are moved from the winter pond to the main pond, and once in fall when they go vice versa. I like to follow yhe development of koi, not just mine, but all koi. I enjoy it when people show the development of their koi through time, and as such I have shared the development of mine on a Dutch language forum for some years now.

I have seen many fantastic koi on KB, and feel now is the time to share my Koi with you. All my Koi were bought from 2001 on, since I lost all my Koi to KHV in 1999 and did not really start building the collection untill 2001 (I had pond muts to try if the problems were gone)

The first Koi I would like to show you is my GinRin Chagoi. It was bred by Shoji and Makoto Tanaka, Marusyo Koi Farm. I bought it in the fall of 2001 as a 5"

This is a picture of the GR Chagoi in 2003, 23". It's still a bit "greenish"

The next picture was taken December 2004, and almost 27". It changed color, and the conformation improved.

Next picture was taken October 2005, 30".

I had hoped that this GR Chagoi would reach 32", but due to a very short warm period, it only grew to almost 31". As it was now Gosai, I expected and hoped it would put on more girth, which it fortunately did. (Which does not show very well on the picture)

Thanx!

Sorry for the pictures not showing, I'm trying to figure out what I've done wrong. When I do, I'll post my other Koi.

Nice looking Gin Rin Chagoi. The color kept really good for getting it at 5 inches. Most turn out brownish. This one has a hint but is the lighter color. The gin rin looks to be holding up well. GOOD JOB!

Reg

Thanks for sharing the pics. This is the type of thing that really impresses me. Someone taking a tosai and creating a work of art. I know, it's knot a Gosanke - but it's very high quality and that goes to hebandry skills. OUTSTANDING JOB REG!! Can't wait to see more of your collection.
