Very nice Shiro. I can only hope my Omosako will take the same route (but it's almost entirely white right now)
Dick, in the first picture the leading ray on the left pec has only a hint of grey on the front. In fact, I'm not even sure if the pec is actually grey or that it's the light reflecting on it. What is the percentage of (Omosako) Shiro that will develop Motoguro from a minute trace of grey like this one?
From the looks of the pic Im starting to wonder if the sumi will come back Is this something common in shiro Utsuri? I dont see as much underlying sumi as I did to start with.

Take a look at the right gill plate in the last two pics. There was no sumi at all in Nov 05 but in Nov 06 it is starting to creep back in. Time will tell...I think One thing I didn't mention but I will now. None of these photos have been enhanced. The only thing done was some cropping.
Yes I see the two black specks of sumi on the left side of the head. I dont know that much about this type of koi and it's development. It just looks like there will not be as much sumi as it looked in early pic. But this is a good thread because what do I know Not much when it comes to this variety I can use all the help I can get. This is a good thread that I will keep following.
Hi Gordon, as you know I don't sell koi. The place I got that one from has a shipment that came in this week or is coming in next week. I hope to have pics soon of them. I will be buying possibly two from them and as we discussed before you can piggyback the shipment and pick it up from my house to save on shipping.
Do all shiro utsuri's sumi go away and then come back? In small fry can you tell if it is a bekko or utsuri? How old do they have to be to finish and how can you tell if sumi development is going to be good?
Very nice, thanks for sharing! I'm most impressed with the way the shiro is coming along. It will be interesting to see how this koi finishes up in another year or two.
