I really think that looking at this list, the next GC could come from any one of them except maybe Sakuma or Hirasawa. Don't think they quite measure up to the standards of the others.

With Maruyama winning GC with a over the hill Showa...I think everyone has a fair chance...

When a fish has passed it's prime condition...Following the history of the Showa for the last 4 years it was in prime condition a couple of years before that. I think the other 2 Ueno Showas were far better in youth and in my honest opinion it shouldnt have beat the Kohak(u) in 2005. Considering the history of the Showa at the All-Japan Shinkokai it was a heart felt win for Maruyama...
