on showa the sumi is very unstable. It can go away and come back up many times before it is finished.

Great info!

Thanks everyone! This is the reason I read this forum the most. Lots of great ideas!

I could try the sand idea, maybe add a layer to the trickle tower. As long as I get a fine enough mesh for it, and check it often to make sure it doesn't channel, I think it would be worth a try. The sumi on my sanke isn't great either. Could be an interesting experiment. If anything comes of it, I'll let you all know.

So it will either come back, or not. LOL! that's what I figured.

Just thought of something else...

Does anyone know if Lithadura has silica in it? Might be interesting to try next if the sand does nothing.

thanks mr Mike, i bought those showa from Brett, he said that from the Vice president of Dianichi bring to him last spring when he visit Texas. all same age. same environment. Just shade my head ($150 each) ! one thing that i notice is the one with a lot of black on their pectoral fin the sumi is real strong. the one with little black is either fade or very little sumi develope. I thank you again mr Mike.
