Nice pond Bill, water quality looks great, fish look happy.. It must have a nexus system on it . And it already looks like something that Steve might design.

You did a great job on that display pond I might add thgere at Mystic Koi (I guess its ok to mention the business since he is an advertizer?). Funny how some can listen and leran and then appropriately apply those princples.

Mr. Russell . . .

I feel you’ve crossed the line. When you were John Russell, an individual seeking knowledge, I (for one) was happy to share information with you. And did. But again you’re spieling as CEO Russell, intransigent koi-killer, so I guess it’s back to point, counterpoint.

Two weeks ago, in post #24 of the now-merged RWG/Kodama KF thread, I wrote that hyping RWG for being an improvement over ADI would be like arguing that Britney Spears represents a paradigm shift in morality from the low standards Madonna set. She doesn’t and you don’t. There’s no statistical significance between 3 and 4 on a 100 point scale. You’re going to have to aim higher – much higher – before anyone here notices an improvement. Sorry to be so blunt.

The reason Lucifer is ‘down there’ is not because he didn’t understand the nature of Good; it’s because he knew, but chose to ignore, it. And there’s a reason why he hasn’t been meeting with the folks ‘up there’ to design steps in the middle for those who want to avoid Hell but don’t want to work hard enough to make it to Heaven; it’s because . . . well, I’ll leave that to you to suss out.

Nancy, this pond is 12,000 gallons, is 8' deep at the drains (benched), and has twin air drains which are serviced by twin Nexus 300's (fluidized K1 system).

John... There has been some mention in these threads about fludized media, and the efficiencies this process delivers. Should you be interested, you can read more about this process by following the link to a PDF file;

http://www.evolutionaqua.com/nu_pdf/...e%20Detail.pdf

My Nexus units also have Biochip media in them. This media is also fluidized, but allows for the growth of "micro" animals which feed directly on organic particles. You may read more about this at the following link;

Kind Regards,
Bill

Hello Everyone

Hello Everyone,

Can I ask a small favor? Would someone be kind enough tell me how to post photos here. We have an indoor koi pond very similar to Bill's shown here. I described it somewhere else - it is only 5' deep though. Bottom drain, skimmer, two bead filters, bottom aeration - but instead of waterfalls we installed Hydro Columns at one end. (They offer no filtration - just cosmetic.)

Bill, I've done a lot of research of the Nexus system, no question it is very good. I don't have a comparible filter to that yet - maybe someday. I do have filters that are drastic improvements over those two Savio filters you show in the photo. Although our filters compete with the waterfall versions of that filter. We could easily make an in&out version like the ones shown in your photo.

I know, understand, and respect all that you people are saying. Don is correct - I do speak from a CEO's perspective. When you all are work, you speak from your job's perspective also. As a CEO, I have to guide our business through the crowed waters in the market place. Maddening as it is to the majority of you, the Lion's share of the market has preferences contrary to your own. So, from the CEO's percpective, I must carve out a niche in the grander market place.

We can build other forms of stabilization for our outdoor koi pond like that of our indoor koi pond. (We bolted 4x6 timbers together and then lined it with EPDM) What ever we build has to be "dismantle- able", and thus rebar/concrete can't be used at our site. We have an 8 year lease on the building, with an option to purchase thereafter - but in the mean time, we can not construct "permanent" structures on the property.

Steve, sorry, I didn't mean to say "your koi show", I ment to say the koi show in March that Nancy is part of. Refereing to SSA, I mentioned that all surfaces have biofilm on them, including gravel if it is used.

Again, I urge all of you to simply come and see our Hybrid ponds. You will never in a million years believe what I am saying - but maybe, just maybe, your eyes will tell you something different.

Either way, I have grown to love you all and can't wait to meet you.

Sincerely,
John Russell

Goldies have a physiological tolerance for water conditions that allow them to thrive in water that would poison a Koi in a single day. [snip] Koi are the product of 200 years of selective LINE BREEDING.
Larry, I agree with the intent of your post and your overall assessment of the rocks and the fragility of koi. I would have agreed with your assessment of goldfish until I started keeping goldfish. Common goldfish, comets, shubunkins and wakin are almost as hardy as koi. The other goldfish varieties are much less hardy than koi. They have been inbred for several thousand years. A serious goldfish enthusiast would never put rocks on the bottom of their pond or their aquarium. It would be a death wish. However, a shallow pond is preferable for goldfish as it aids in development of the fins. Sorry to pick at your post. I just have a lot of pent-up goldfish frustration this week.

John, you have to first upload the photos to your web sit. Then when replying, click the 'insert image' button. You will be prompted to provide the URL of the photo on your site. At least that's how I do it.
