Cool Toys for Tots Was a Success!

I think the Toys for Tots drive between the clubs that participated was a success. I like the fact that there is enthusiasm for doing it again next year, but......

Antonio posted a thread a while back that asked, in effect, what can Koi Clubs do to give back to the community. Even though the Toys for Tots drive is a great step in the right direction, isn't there more we can do. Can we make the Toys for Tots drive a National event among all the Koi Clubs. I am sure that there are probably many people in the clubs that give anyway, but I think the impact of an event that involves many or all of the clubs would be beneficial in many ways. What do you all think? Would Koi Club of the Air donate air time as needed? Just some thoughts.

What about other events during the year as well? There are many other holidays.

I like the caring heart Russ, it sends a message as to what koi folks are made of. The future of koi clubs is with the youth that are introduced to it, and this would be a wonderful way to introduce families to the "joy of koi ". Most clubs i know both here and in Japan are made up of more "MATURE" folks if you get my drift.

I know the club at Roseburg,Oregon did a wonderful job of collecting toys for tots with an emphasis on teens as well, which was a need brought to them by the firemen who were collecting and distributing.

I'm thinking we need a national organization to really make it work to organize and make aware. AKCA would be perfect thru the efforts of Koi USA..

would be anxious to hear others input

I agree whole heartly, I think with ZNA Norcal as the leader in this. That all AKCA & ZNA clubs could really make a difference, come next Christmas. Look at what they acomplished, with just 3 clubs participating in this years fundraiser. I think Koi USA could really generate a much greater participation from the surrounding clubs.

Thats wonderful!!!

I am happy that you all could bring some toys for the needy this year. They have toys for tots at my school right now, I am thinking of bringing some toys in just to do my part.
So what are the stats? how many toys were there in this success?
