Nancy,
Thanks for sharing the pics of the Beauty Queens. Man they are gorgious. I've heard you have several ponds, how do you decide who goes where? Size, sex, type?
Thanks again,
Jim

Hi Jim
Honestly, we never decide who is going to a show, untill the day we start packing them up. In the past we use to say we are taking this fish or that fish. Well as we all know, sometimes one will not look that good, sumi down, or a scratch, or lots of eggs, or whites not as white as we feel they should be. So we always prep all our fish for the upcoming event, and take which ones we feel look the best on that day.( kind of like how the judges judge the fish, on how they look today). We have a couple of them that always just get in the net, and because they show so well, they usually get to go to alot more shows than some of the others. We have a few that have never left our pond yet, as they are still not show ready. We only have females in our pond, and yes we always try to take a couple of each variety.

Hi Nancy,

I like your approach. I know people who plan and count on Koi being ready for a show, and when they aren't, the dissappointment is huge.

The secondary benefit of not knowing which ones you're taking is that neither does the competition. Forewarned is forearmed, so don't tip your cards ahead of time.

Seems someone taught me that lesson not all that long ago. Hmmmm . . . wonder who.

That was a secet. , but yes that is one of the other reasons. Never show your cards.. Always leave them wondering what you might bring.

Nancy

Those fish of yours are really awful!!! I can't believe you actually let people see them...aren't you embarrassed?

I have a pond that i keep the rejects in, maybe you should give them to me. I'd even fly down there and bag them up for you, save you more embarrassment...LOLOL

Seriously...OMG...i swear you and i are long lost sisters or something. You and i have the same taste in fish and get this...i have an English bulldog too. Mine is named Taro...an English dog with a Japanese name...go figure. He looks just like yours too. Farts like crazy!!!
