Hi, I'm jordan, friend of eric. need a some help!

so my friend eric (lildude) is talking about his koi 24/7, and he seems to enjoy it very much, so i decided to give this whole koi thing a try. i got 2 kohaku koi at the sacrmanto koi show a couple months ago, and eric provided me with a preformed shell for a starting pond. any advice concerning koi or koi ponds for this newbie is very much appreciated!!!

welcome Jordan to our board. Lil Dude's enthusiasm about koi is contagious.
Keeping koi is not an inexpensive hobby, so go slow at first. learn as much as you can about water and filters. If you have a club that you could join that would be the best thing. Invest your time and money in learning...there is plent of time for expensive name brand koi later. It's nice to see that you two have each other to encourage and challenge each other.

Oh, my. First, go to the library and get a book on koikeeping published after 1990. Then we can address specifics you have questions about.

the book you want to get is koi kichi by Peter waddington. You might want to consider some back issues of koi-bito as well.

The key here is to learn as much as lil'dude aka erik..hahahaha...j/k...

1. Learn at a pace that you feel comfortable.

2. Erik has about 4 years of experience, so whatever he is telling you throw it out the window...hahahahahaha...

3. Visit this board more often and ask clear questions so we can best help you.

4. Since we have a Grasshoppa we need to give you a name....You are known as Young Paddawan from Star Wars...

Borrow Lil'dude's book, read it It's a good sign if it takes you longer than four hours to read it because you're enjoying it.
