Don,
They couldn't remember which two fish they were. Nancy wasn't there. I am way curious-I bet they are males the shape looks triangular.

both fish are females.
i dont see the problem with sexing fish if they are old enough and it is breeding season.
other than that you could get many different suggestions.

if it is season and they are old enough and you are checking for sex then give them a squeeze and if they milt they are male. if not AND they are protruding around the vent like a roundish burger ring sitting there with the folds your pic shows then they are very likley female. i have however seen a few fish that will confuse everyone.
but good pics/ id be confident enough to say both are 100 percent female.

also notice that both fish are raised and the raise part of the circle- nearer to the head pitters out where there seems to be a flatter part and a gap.
males will not have the pronounced raised shape that is raised and puckered like a kiss.
just checked the page 2 of posts and it seems it is not season over there, still i claim female, as my males never look like that and so raised and swollen.

Well, for all the knowledge and split decision, here goes: the second fish is male, it was spanked today. The first looks very different in person, and strongly apprears to be female. Go figure.
