Please give your opinion on these 2 fishes sex

A friend of mine, was looking at these 2 fish to buy, he wants to know what sex we think they are.

I can't say about the sexing of these fish, someone else I'm sure will come along for that answer.

But I just had to take note of what looks to be the beginings of some kind of "boo boo" on the left fish. One on the right might have something starting also.

What you are seeing is anchor worm bites, these fish just came out of mud ponds. You will generally see them with or with out the anchor worm, when they 1st come in from Japan.

But a good learning experience since I am betting you already know!

The first picture looks like a more mature 2-3 year old as compared to the second picture. If correct, I'd "guess" that pic 1 is a male and pic 2 a female (but not as matured). Of course, while I had them "flipped", I'dd "attempt" to "milk" both. The problem is that at this time of year, you may not get anything out and in the case of the second pic, if my "guess" is correct, not getting anything may not mean anything either since the Koi's vent indicates that it may not have reached sexual maturity yet.

All just guesses, based on the pictures and I am typically wrong when guessing from pictures!

What sex did the Japanese breeder say they were? I'd go with that!

So from the pictures men are usually bigger assholes than women?

What specifically do you look for Steve? I remember you sexing the male Matsunosuke at the Chicago ZNA show a few years ago. That was interersting to see live and in person.
