Hey Dick, glad to see your back on line. We didn't get it bad here. Enough wind to blow the lid off my savio skimmer but I found it about 6 feet away. We had a bit of snow but it's all melted now. We were with out power for for awhile here also, but nothing like what other people are going through.

I live near the coast Monterey Bay to be exact. I usually do a night ride on my mtn bike in the Forest and sure glad I didnt since old Branches usually are widow makers. Their was a warnign of huge waves so authorities said stay away from the cliffs as rogue waves are around.

Of course stupid as I am I will have to check the surf to see if the swells are pushing today. Nothing like surfing after a storm of course you have to watch out for all the driftwood in the water

Dick and other so glad things are alright..

Got 65 miles/hour winds here around Portland Oregon. Small branches, leaves and pine needles flying sidways. All my house's gutters got clogged in no time. Many folks are still without power now. Comcast was down until around 11am. Morning commute was quite a sight with a lot of traffic signals not functioning in a radius of about 15 miles around Portland.

At the store we have some dammage. The fabric top of a storage tent just disappeared, corrugated plastic roofing bits in several places, tarp top in the gardens walkways ripped off is several places. The good news is that the large greenhouse housing the koi in off season has not been damaged.

Windy!

We are 10 miles west of downtown Portland, we lost power around 8:00pm last night and are still without. Our koi are in the garage "vacationing" while the pond is being completed. We checked them every hour during the night, and they did fine. We purchased an early Christmas present first thing this morning. A Honda Generator. I am sure the neighbors will be pleased! Our neighbor works for Portland General Electric. She said that most blocks of people that are out are in blocks of 1400 customers. We are in a group of 27 houses, so we are not high priority. Of course after the fish were taken care of I hooked up the internet! We may be cold, but we can surf!

<grin>

Wow I feel for you guys. We haven't had a storm like that in a few years but man was it something riding that beast out. I'm glad to hear you all made it through without any major damage and more importantly no harm to oneself.

Oh, I empathize with all of you. I hope after the clean-up you find the damage is not as bad as appears.

Dick: Were your bonsai protected?

We had a bad snow storm here on dec. 1 and central IL. was without power for over a week in places.makes me think we should get a generator also.not just for the ponds but for a little heat to keep house pipes from bursting and all the problems a midwest cold winter can bring.it has me thinking of what to do in case we do lose power until we can get a nice generator that runs off propane fuel.

Arthur...great to hear from YOU! Glad our friends in oregon were able to "dodge a bullet".

I talked to my koi kichi's in Idaho and Spokane. Some pond covers didn't hold up and some power was out for awhile but surprising no horrow stories.

PSKORF- My Daughter lives in springfield Ill so i pretty much keep up with the weather. You have some "interesting weather" thereabouts as well. I thought about that area to move to to be close to family but not much on tornadoes!

glad to have all reporting in that things are manageable!!!!!

umm
if your worried about a tornado they seem to destroy a path they take.and you are having hurricane winds which took out wide spread area. you might be better coming back to area.i am very northern just 20 miles from Wisconsin

PSKorf-When i was about 10 I was looking out for my lil brother till my parents got home from work.( this was in Cleveland,Ohio ) A tornado came and i had to get us both
down in the basement. While we obviously survived I've never forgotten
the fear and memory of it. In fact when i went to see twister (the movie) I had to get up and go out in the lobby cause it made me break into a cold sweat.

Mike: Bonsai's survived thank-you. I had them locked up in my "greenhouse" and fortunately it held together. My cracy Chojubai Quinces are all blooming.(both red and white)Fortunately the rest are pretty much behaving. It's funny in koi I just love asagi's ( not the favorite around) and trying to find Chojubai quince is about the same. Not that popular. They're both wild ( in their own way )
