Ray, we visited Maruyama last year after the AJS. He was very excited to talk about the showa and went through its history with us. We are going back to maruyama this year as well after the AJS. We WILL be looking for showa. We will see how they are doing.

I was wondering about the body not being straight, too. What happens and why?

I have a (much smaller) Chagoi that I've noticed recently has a slight "curve or buldge" on one side before the tail. She's only about 20" and has a very thick tail tube. I keep hoping I'm imagining things and it's just the angle that I'm looking at her but I've noticed it for the last 2 weeks.

I am glad to hear that, I thought the prices were way too high in US dollars.

Also, when you say "GoSanke at those big sizes is the body becomes not straight anymore," what do you mean by "not straight?" What does the body do, go somewhat disproportional or lumpy or? I can't quite see it in the pics, if that exists in these three...

Marie

Well it tends to happen when the spine starts to curve as the fish gets bigger. Lumps also happens too as the fish gets bigger too and older.

In the pics all three fish are at the top of competition condition. This means from comformation and overall quality. Any fish at this level of competition with a disfigurement will not do well even if the overall quality is great.
