It is Raining at PSKoi!

Last year at this time we had so much rain that at 1:00am December 31st the stream rose 15' and flooded our Koi yard with almost 2' of water and left us with tons of mud.
As I sit watching the rain, I can't help but think "Let it Pour!". Not wanting to take any chances this year I built a concrete floodwall that goes from the foundation of my building around the back of the yard and connects to the block firewall of the building next to me. I am contained on all sides but the down hill side. Yahoo!!!

Here are some pictures.

Hooray! The Great Wall of Martinez!

Well, maybe the Good Wall of Martinez. Looks like it should do the trick!

It is one foot above the height of the flood waters from last year. If the water gets higher than that, were all in trouble.

If it even looks like it might go up and over, think sandbags since you've a stable wall of sufficient width to support them. Might get a little seepage but I'm sure you could gain an additional foot of protection.

You can usually get the bags from your Fire Department (ours gave 'em away) and order up a scoop or two of sand, delivered, from a local building supply store. Order in a case of two of beeru and put the word out . . .

Just a thought. Best,
