What do you think of this Showa?

This is my friends Showa that he wanted me to post. This Showa is 13inches and it was bought at the size of 5inches.

More info: The fish is probably Ogata.

I think it looks great! Not sure about out your way but around here you will never find a koi with potential at all in the 5" range.

Even though it is "a little messy" right now, I think this Showa has potential and is very nice. I like the body shape and color. Once the pattern finishes and tightens up, I think you have a sensational looking Showa.

Well the guy who owns this Showa is the "240gal Aquarium man" hahahaha...I think he moved this Showa into his 6ft show tank...I will ask him more pics of the fish in different stages of development.

He is doing a good job for his "space" limitations.

Raising koi in very limited space has been the realm of the Malaysian balcony koi keeper. I remember reading with great interest on an old forum that is no longer around (Cyberfins) of keepers raising very respectable fish in very limited space with some astounding success.

I also like the showa. It has been said that showa are the most difficult for the breeder to cull. The breeder crystal ball has more cracks in it when judging the future potential of showa than the other two gosanke varieties. Aquitori, tell your friend that he is doing fine with this one. Would love to see some more shots.

Rick

I like this showa...All three colors on the head..nice motogoro and balance. One issue I see is the base of the pec fins. Is there a deformity going on there?

Do they seem small to you, or is it just me?

I think the pecs are fine. Are you talking about the front ray?
