Marshmellows (No) although they would definately try to eat it.

Apples.. I never tried but in asking these questions you have to think of what benefit these foods will give you fish and is there another way you you could feed them that is easier for them to digest. Softer fruits and veggies would be a better way to start..

It would be kind of like feeding your kids Twinkies all the time. Sure you can give it as a treat but it lacks the protien for proper growth and should not be used as a replacement for koi food.

Check this out for more info on koi food.

When speaking of koi food and it's selection it almost has a cult like following. One of the more knowledgeable posters on this board when it comes to koi food is our very own Chris Neaves. I did a search for all of the posts that he has done and came up with this: http://www.koi-bito.com/forum/search.php?searchid=49888

They might not all be on food but many of them are and those posts contain some real gems as far as information. You might enjoy and learn something as I did when I read them.

I've often wondered how many times they will eat the same food. In, out, in, out. How much nutritional value is there? Does the nutritional value change with each subsequent pass? The mass of the food is reduced by about 90% between being eaten and excreted as feces. Is 90% absorbed the second time around? Inquiring minds want to know.
