Not always...but often I do. It definitely helps when your on the fence with a purchase. You always notice things in photo's that you miss when seeing the fish live. It is usually the subtle things that are missed...especially when they are freaking out and splashing in a blue bowl.

Dont have anywhere around here to go koi shopping Only place I can go is my mud pond Still not enough there any good, so no I dont take my camera

Yep, got the Sony PD170, which takes a mighty fine DV motion picture
I think I may be as fond of the camera as the fish.

Well in Utah there is no where to koi shop, but that does not stop us koi kichi. Recently a friend drove to see a Dave Matthews concert in Mt. View, I asked him to pick up some koi on the way home. Well I didn't actually think he would. I got a call at about 11am and was told to check my email. Turns out while at the dealer he took pics, got on their internet and emailed them to me. I picked out the ones I liked and had them in QT by midnight, now that was good service and I'm glad he had a camera! Oh thanks Dinh for helping pick out the koi and thanks Champ koi for suppling them!
