This Is Updated Picture. Can You Tell Me How To Make This Sanke Has A Big And Thick Tail? I Think If It Has A Big And Thick Tail It Will Be Better Than This. Right Now She Is About 48 Cm.

Thank You For Your Answer.

To be perfectly honest, I don't think there is anyting that will make the head big other than genetics, but I think the head on this Koi is beautiful as it is. The tail is a bit narrow compared to the midsection, which is quite thick, but lots of strong current with plenty of room to swim is the only thing I know of that will strengthen it. This one may never be a Jumbo, but it is a very lovely Koi to be proud of.

I do not know. It is said that time in a mud pond will strengthen the tail because of the effort expended burrowing into the mud to get at crustaceans living in the mud. However, I doubt that works unless the proper genetics are in place. In a hobbyist pond, Larry's suggestion of adding current is the only idea I've come across in my reading.

Based on the angle of the photo it is impossible to give any opinion you would have to take a photo shooting streight down to see the proportions.

Your friends suggestion of a water jet to increase currents in the pond is a good one. Koi love to swim against currents as it is similar to being in a wild river where native carp spend much of their lives. I know in our pond they love to swim against the strongest currents and it is common to see them all lined up against the water flow just swimming like crazy for the fun of it. This helps to develop good muscle growth in the whole body.
In a mud pond, like MikeM mentioned, they nearly bury themselves in the mud digging for things to eat in the mud, which is also very good exercise. That is why mudponds are so good for body development even thought they don't have strong currents.

I think that it is a nice fish as it gets large shape will look better . The best conditions are to feed koi all year in warm water when they are young but as they get older first few months of food goes to egg production then comes the 4 month of rapid growth getting ready for the winter . Where you have a warm climate year round I do not know what is the best . I get nearly all my growth from June till Sep then hardly any . I use a 1/3HP air compressor in my mud pond this allows me a far higher stocking level and they love to swim in the rising water . If you need dormancy you can send your fish for 8 months to Canada

You have a very pretty sanke there TOR.....
I see what Mike P is talking about in the beni kiwa just to our right of the dorsal....again I bet this koi pic was taken shortly after harvest or the growing season, I think it will be just fine......

depending on the genetics of this koi ( I see some momotaro in it ) I'm thinking after it get's it's length it will start working on the bulk part and the tail tube. So my advice is to have some patience.....

Now if i could just find a nice sanke like that for myself.....Mat at quality koi has one i'm interested in. It'll be sansei this year in the mud....hope to see it this fall

it's awsome looking fish but, for long term, you probably have to live with the thin tail section. don't want to sound discouraging but chances are it won't get any thicker to give a balance head to tail looking. I could be wrong but you probably can tell by closely observe the swimming motion of the tail section. if the side to side "kicking" shows sign of weakness, then it's for sure that the tail section won't get any thicker.
