South African bred Kohako

I got this girl 3 months ago comming out of a mudpond. She was 32cm then, now 38cm. We are in the middle of summer now so she is feeding very well. I'm actually excited about her. At $170 she was quite a score...or not???

I'm surprised no one has commented on your posting. I do indeed think the kohaku is a very nice koi, domestic makes it very impressive, and I agree you did well on the price. Can you tell us who bred it, I have some awareness of breeders in the UK and USA but need to start getting a handle on domestic breeders in your part of the globe.

I like the quality of the beni and shiroji. I think this is a great Kohaku especailly for $170.00. I like the pattern, it is a big fish pattern. It gives you something to look forward to. Very nice buy.

Big pattern for a bigger body. I like the Kohaku, clean shiroji and deep beni...

The breeder is www.platinumkoi.co.za
Here is a pic of a sanke from the same batch I'm trying out. This one turned out male but what the hec, we appreciate koi for different reasons. I also selected some showa tosai that I left for the season to grown on in their mud ponds. I like shopping at a farm....so much more fun!

Are the first two pics, of the kohaku, taken three months apart? Has the fish been in your pond at home the past three months?

Values of fish are hard for me to get a grasp on. It seems that we pay way less in US than folks must pay in any part of Europe for comparable fish. So South Africa? Plus, I'm a horrible, half broke, cheap skate. In person I may have paid $170 for your fish. By pic? Nope.
