Using a point system you could go with 1 point for less then a hundred koi entered, 2 points for 100-200, 3 points for 200-300 etc.
Yeah, what Jim says........ Mitch, I don't see where you got out of my post that I said a show shouldn't count. The problem is a GC from some shows don't even compare with some of the larger shows, so how can you compare them, you can't. So, to me, the only way you could really do it is based on something, as Jim said, like a point system.

The way I see it, it's sort of like the PGA tour. They keep track of career wins as a measure of the greatness of a golfer. They also have certain grand slam events which merit more prestige. A win at a smaller venue, which may have been skipped by Tiger Woods still counts as a win. It would just be nice to compile the records and see how they stack up. It might be a way to recognize someone special.

Yes, but to some, winning is what defines the hobby. I don't judge this, I just accept it.

Joe Co took Grand Champion and Runner up Grand Champ back to back for 4 years at ZNA Garenda Now that is a huge acomplishment.

Was those GC with four different fish? It just seems to me that recording United States koi show history would be interesting also. So how many you and Frank got?

Yes, Mitch they were all different koi, My buddy Jose was one of the top hobbiest here in California, but the politics drove him into being a private hobbiest. What a shame, anyone that knows Jose, can tell you that man, can pick the best Sanke with his eyes closed. We have been learning from him for a long time, he is a great teacher. And still has a collection too die for.

What I find appetizing is when my koi are happy and growing, as well as developing.

Good point. So how about basing it off the number of size 6 and up? The plan falls apart when it comes to basing a point system off quality. Whether or not the quality at one show is better than another is too subjective and nobody would ever agree. So basically you could only do it off shear numbers but then again somebody might show up with a couple tanks fo size 7 shiromujis and skew the numbers. You'd never make everyone happy with a point system but I think we can all agree that we hope people continue to show and share their knowledge of koi with all of us.

Nancy,
Five is great. I never thought I would have an interest in shows, but the more I learn about them, the more I like the idea. I do hope the politics can be put to bed and let the best man/woman win the shows. I hope someone can put together a record of the US shows and who won with which fish if possible. Not that it would really tell us who the greatest hobbyist is, but just to record the history for those who come later.
