Well, I was hoping you would get more comments from those that know more than I. But, my understanding is that hi on the gill plate is a negative aspect from a judging point of view. On the other hand, it does not bother me from an esthetic point of view since the fish are viewed from above, and I like that fish. If it's young, the hi on the gill could clear.
I have to disagree, based on my many weeks of experience in the hobby

, with the favorable comments regarding number 8. Because the hi falls short on the tail, the pattern is not balanced from the front to the rear even though the hi does not extend far on the head. Also, I find the stray spot of hi near the right pectoral, and the window of hi on the dorsal to be distracting. Plus, the beni climbs very high on the dorsal, which is a problem, though that may recede as well. Perhaps the others see something in the body that does not jump out to my novice eyes.
Number 3 is definitely interesting, and could be very nice if the beni improves.
Hopefully, some of the others will tell you more.
