It's okay, Dick. Don't overly flog yourself like every other perfectionist I know (including myself). I bet the gosh-keys will be incredibly interesting to watch grow into themselves, and even more interesting if we could see the oyagoi that produced them to see what qualities came out of the pairing...

...besides, I'll probably make everyone watch Jumanji my pug-ugly ginrin ochiba go through all his incredible guises as he steps into his nisai year, and like you said, we've got Mickey's to watch too (who are much prettier, I might add ).

You know who's ochibas I'd like to see again? Dale Turok's. I saw them for the first time last year in another ochiba thread here and it would be great to see and hear about them again. I can't remember who the breeder was, but one was a gorgeous gold over blue netting and the other a pretty ginrin with tea colored "leaves." Just beautiful...

Smile thanks for understanding

I saw the parents when i was back there last fall but didn't take any pictures. The dad's the same but mom's different.... I can't think of a color variety I'll learn more about as i've never owned one before ( as hard as that is to believe ) so will be fun for me to learn on along with you.
Jim was that " loose lips " quote directly off the world war two posters to make civilians aware that spies could be everywhere. reminds me of the current comic line of open mouth insert foot...LOL
So Mick-meister, if it's the second pond at mat's that's already spoken for,
SO TAKE CARE OF THE ONE's you got!!!!!

That is indeed what I was quoting . Reminds me of last year. I had seen a showa that Genki was selling. So I emailed Kevin about it and the very next day somebody posted it's pic on a koi forum. I completed the deal with Kevin and he told me how all the sudden the showa was very popular and his phone was ringing off the hook about it. Fortunately I was already working out the details with him BEFORE somebody posted it elsewhere so he turned down all the offers.

Same when I posted a Soragoi last year. It had been on the dealer's website for months. It got several favorable comments from posters and was sold within days. I think its a matter of people reacting to the commentary. If it's negative comment, the dealer needs to think about deep discounts.

Where are the best koi going?

I have a friend who worked two summers for Yagenji and now has been with Momotaro for over a year. He says the money is coming from the Asians- big time. They are grabbing the best fish and paying big dollars for these fish.

Dick

One (the Narumi) was bred by Torazo and the 4 step was by Ogata. Here's another one (nisai) I got this past fall from Otsuka. He said it was the only one of this type in two years. We'll see how it does in my harder water this year - still in QT
