My Filter design- Will it work, Opinions greatly appreciated

I was bored in class today, so I doodled this one straight from my mind, you might see some influence from other filters .
What do you think? do you think it would be effective if it were real?
Instead of talking on others threads, I will make my own thread if I want to know something that is worth making a thread. A little Ironic I am making a thread about this, but hey, Im an engineer at heart.

Well anyways, I was thinking, maybe you can make a pressure filter that can be just as effective as a nexus and smaller. I cant say this is better because chances are, Its not, but its a good way to get good conversations going.

I thought of shiro utsuri and its ichimatsu pattern and then the horizontal pads thats some filters incorporate in their systems, I have heard through books that they prove to be quite effective, so I became a little creative and had the urge to combine the 2 concepts together. I am not sure if it has been though of before or not. The reason why I thought of it was, it would provide better flow and it wouldnt let the water come into contact with as much pads, especially if people dont clean their filters enough.

A purge semi chamber seemed like a good idea, so I added it in. The user would still have to go in everyone once in a while and clean the ichimatsu foam medium.

Do you think I am crazy yet?

EDIT: Sorry, but paint to photo doesnt work well when the font is too small, sincerest apologies. You may still be able to read it.

Eric

I have one question for you. If you use the "itchimatsu pad system" what will you support it with? At this point, from your diagram, there is no support.

Also, what type of media are you using in the upflow section? Is that supposed to be K1 media? Also, what size is this filter going to be? How many cubic feet of media is included? The concept is not bad, down flow outer with upflow inner with aireated media. Depending on size you can then figure your flow rate for your system. I think I remember you saying it will be about 6000 gal!? If this is pump fed, what will be the water source. Directly from bottom drains or will it be pulled from a vortex settling chamber?

I know, I started out saying I had ONE question, then I asked several more. These are things to think about but you may just have struck on a new idea of an old theme. If it works it's great! Also, in your post you mentioned that this would be a "pressurized" filter. Not unless the whole thing is totally sealed with a container can it be pressurized.

I was just speculating on how maybe I could make things better. I guess I have my work cut out for me. I am not intending to actually create it, but rather, stimulate peoples imaginations, aswell as mine.
The beads will be, well I guess could be K1 media.
The ichimatsu wont actually look like that, here is what It would really look like. Would it still work, would it be even effective. I was thinking that maybe the padding could be Matala. It seems to be rigid and can support itself.
