Oh, Jim. This will be fun. Please post updates here, too!

1. Unbalanced motoguro offends my eye.

2. Too much Sumi. Developing too early.

3. Ditto, but for motoguro watching, WOW! Nice pecs for watching contraction.

4. This could have been my favorite, but the red in the pec and on the eye (just glare, I hope) ruin it for me. I move on without evaluating the rest.

5. The winner. Nice body, sumi appears high quality, evenly distributed pattern. For future development, I don't think the other four are in the same class.

I'm looking forward to the next 9 months in particular.

Shiro selection

It hard to tell from photo's at this age but, I would choose the fourth photo-best conformation of group, sumi pattern is balanced and will most likley fill in. Quality of sumi okay, may not be the best at this time.I prefer an interesting but clean kiwa if possible.

5,4,3

5 appears to have the best future as it has good size/conformation + a sumi package with lots of room to get better instead of fade out. My only concern is the tail tube... There is a slight indication of a future "kink" as this one grows large.
4 also has a good size/conformation, but he sumi has less room for improvement than #5. (the red spot in the pec is a potential issue as well)
3 is far too finished at this stage, but if the sumi recedes dramatically as young shiro's have been known to do it could re-emerge at 3-4 years to really finish well.
1 & 2 are too runty & male looking by comparison to measure up to 3,4,5...

#5 is clearly my favorite with #3 a close second. #2 is an adorable panda, not of the class of 3 or 5, but I'm a sucker for that kind of pattern. #1 may surprise us all, but I don't think so. Bummer about the beni on #4. Could have been a contender...

Jim, did these Shiros come from the "Musashi" bloodline?

You see that just shows what a dork I am. I didn't even think to get that info. I'll find out though and let you know.

My picks . . .

#4: Best complete package, overall. A few red spots on a shiro of this size doesn't bother me.

#5: Best shot at textbook tight, balanced motoguru.

Note to Jim: What a great idea -- and thanks for the online learning opportunity. Looking forward to your updates!
