Hi John, I will be going this weekend to Collect Juni's...

How was the Soil? Did the Desert have enough rain? I tink Peter went on the same trip with you. I also will be going weekend after as well.

I did some Yamadori Live oak collecting. recently as well. This year I will be hunting for Sierra and Utah Juni's...

I am sure Frank can get 2 of his friends from Home Depot to go with you Nancy and help dig....

Joe , you're gonna need dynamite for that one. Do any of you diggers do this commercially ? And how would you ship a Cal Juni out of state ?

I think if I shot my mouth off as much as you seem to do, I would have no feet left.

You must check out what the person's level of the hobby is first before sending them to WalMart. I go there to get my dogs pig ears.....

I have a very poor specimen of a bonsai.a Ficus Benjemina(sp).it is over 10 years old, and hasn't grown more than 3 inches in width.leaf to leaf.lol.........but it hangs in there..with no help from me mind you .

They are starting a class here at the local nursery where I used to work.might have to slip in and get myself re aquainted

this has been an enjoyable thread, It's amazing how koi, bonsai, and suiseki
all seem to develop the same interest with these groups. I own just one yamidori an alpine fir. Someday I'd like to come up with a western hemlock.
Harry, I hear ya, between my 50 bonsai, koi and Pets I don't get out much either. ( My kids moved away...wonder why! LOL )

available....
Hi Dick

Dorothy Koreshoff has written a book that I think is advanced. It is called, "Bonsai, It's art, science, History and Philosophy"

It is published in Australia, but hopefully you can locate a copy locally.

ANy of the azaleas as well are beautiful. And they are an inexpensive starting plant.

Gail, I must be doing it wrong, the satsuki's I've gotten from japan are very expensive. I have a seiko as the last variety recently purchased. For a week while it's blooming it's worth the expense. LOL
