Just a guess: Male, with unresolved teen angst, a passion for tatts and piercings, black clothes, bizarre hair styles and very, very poor personal hygiene.

Am I close?

As watergardening gets bigger and bigger, the demand gets too for koi and even more for Japanese Koi. Be it I spent time in the midwest, there isnt much as koi dealers goes, so people have to look out of state. Would I buy koi from a picture? No.

I would....but it would be from someone I trust like Mat or Brady. In fact I just bought a goshiki from looking at a picture. Here on the east coast, there are not many high-end importers. You almost have to go by pictures unless you are willing to travel a long way.

i do have problem with JKO (kodama 3 years ago) 4 showa go down the drain. in his website, he teach us how to quaranteene his koi (just read his method of quaranteene). Turn out he do not know that old medecine (salt) do not work no more with koi. the man sell koi like crazy, but not a knowledgable, good honest koi dealer.

Number one thing for any new hobbyist is to pair yourself with a good dealer, not just any kinda of dealer a knowledgable dealer one with a good rep. Good suggestion is to ask others who they are buying from. Since some hobbyist's only outlet is to buy through pics the "trust worthy" dealer comes into play.

Not the auction site

I think this Kodama wholesale is sort of seperate from the auction site. I think they will be mostly trying to sell the 5-6" and 7-8" to a wide variety of koi outlets. (water gardens, pet stores, koi dealers, etc.) So people all around the country will have the opportunity to pick over Japanese koi in person. It should be good for the Japanese breeders.
