Koi Appreciation by Kate McGill

Up until about 6 months ago you could still get this book new from Amazon and elsewhere. Seems now that it is only available as a used book. If you wanted a copy and never got one then you might want to start looking (Amazon has 4 used copies listed as of last night). This book is great for those of you that have mastered keeping your koi alive and now want to learn more about the art of nishikigoi. It covers all the basics(skin quality, conformation, pattern etc) for the major varieties of koi.

Good information Jim, we bought that book several years ago, it is a great source for learning.

I got a used one from Amazon a while ago. It was in great condition, and as it was a library copy, it had a nice clear protective cover.
I love this book. It really brought into focus for me, what to look for to see quality. I especially liked the pictures of poor conformation compared to good. A picture does say a thousand words, and this book has lots of great pictures. Definately worth tracking down and buying it.

An excellent book for the koi library. If you read it a couple of years ago, pull it off the shelf and read again. There are some very insightful remarks worth further reflection.

Before she left for Australia she told me an updated version was in production scheduled for the new year.

As for the photo on the front cover. I can only assume that Dick has some blackmail material.
