Remember, that is where the quality is.

Some may not have the patience and concentration neccessary to elevate the senses for 4 for $100 GC picking. But some do.

I still like #3 in this group, am not worried about it being too dark, and see changes in the coloration of the head already. I don't think this fish will be the star of the motoguro developement thread but I am pulling for an outside move, an end run...tight black fans with rays (sanke rays). These remind me of pinky rings and I am shallow enough to think they are cool. What is the name of the rays? Tsemi? Pecs marked in that way were just posted by Nancy in the thread about showa/sanke and would indicate bekko in the woodpile. (cracks me up. Bekko, like Stevie Hops)

Those pecs are what I am predicting and it is Jim's job to get this fish there.

That's where it is...Remember Russ, if you have a dealer that brings in close to 70,000 tosai a year the hobbyist selection is goin to be alot wider...

Then again everyone has an opinion of "TATEGOI".....right?

Absolutely right, in life what you will believe is your reality. That is not to say that it will fit into someone elses reality.

Well thats where I got a lot of my winners, learned from Antonio how to be like a Paleontoligist through the shop. A digger!

Jnorth- good thread, always interesting to see what a shiro will do. I really dig that last shiro thread you put up though!

Peace

Talking

thanks Jim for the time to get this set up with pics and all. Will be fun....
Ogata and omosako Shiro's will be quite different in development, so from a selection process to learn with it would be best to select 4 different ones from each other so you could learn. A full black pec, a black pec with white ray, one with just white tips and another with small black close to the arm pits.

I don't believe that #1 will produce another motoguro on the blank side. I have seen it happen before with omosako's stuff.
the rest will tighten up and in 2-3 years be very nice. The one with red on it's pec should have the color pull back to about half.

When it comes to predicting what koi will do, I remember a seminar interpreted by Joel from Pan Intercorp. There were several Japanese breeders
taking questions from the audience about koi displayed on the screen from slides. When asked what will happen to one of the koi, the breeder's reply was interpreted to say...."just a moment while I go ask God "...it was pretty funny and got a good laugh from the crowd but as a matter of truth, in all honesty...even the best don't always know....

Jim & Tonio
I am looking forward to seeing both of your experiment shiro, post over the next few months. I will take shiro #5 as I think that shiro will develop better than the others.
