| Paste food I'm been using Izeki paste food for a number of years. I think it's the best food on the market, especially if you mix it with koi clay, vitamins, bee pollen, etc. I remember Tom Lansing was told by a Japanese breeder that you can't go wrong feeding paste food, even if its 100 percent of their diet. However, as Jim has pointed out, your filter must be able to handle the food waste that the koi do not consume. Unlike a koi pellet, when paste food hits the water, some of the powder ingredients dissipate into the water. Even messier is when the fish hit. Is there some tricks to keep the paste food in as a solid mass rather than fouling the water column with food that doesn't go into the koi's gut. Most know that orange juice helps the mix be more user friendly. Does it help to prepare the mix and let it sit for a period of time? How about chilling it down.

| Thanks, Keokoi. The supply/availability is very spotty for the last several years as changes in (koi) food importation. Whenever Ken can manage a few bags of Izeki .... the locals zap them faster than David Copperfield's disparearing act! M. Le |

| Izeki is a great product...I use Izeki Chintol more than the Paste mix itself. In that Izeki Paste mix is great for growth and conditioning...Since my pond is small I concentrate more on conditioning aspect of it and Chintol is the best at that. Note: that you have to have great water to help koi achieve condition. ![]() |

| I agree, it's hard on the water to feed paste. I do add tomatoe juice which suppose to aid color but keeping the chunks solid is still an issue. Izeki definetely puts weight on fish. This is a good thread. What else you guys got? |
