Congrats Cindy...It's very beautiful.
I think it may be time to have a goshiki lesson......basically this koi was originated 3 years after the sanke ( taisho era) According to historians, an aka bekko or aka sanke was used with an asagi ). Since that time the breed has developed thru many stages and has been refined again and again.
But basically, goshiki have 2 basic grounds....black....and while. The older style Kuro Gishiki is quite dramatic. the newer style white based, called kindai or modern goshiki is quite elegant. Tho goshiki basically interprets to " five colors" red, white, grey, blueish and black.
what's fun is trying to know what a tosai will do. Especially if you like the old style Kuro, or the new modern white. Can you tell at a year's age how it will turn out. in short "Yep! " Tosai that will turn black will display a grey in their white and black in their red. Kindai will show grey in the white and NOTHING in the red. It won't be till next fall that you'll get a bit of black to work in...
if your lucky it won't show for the following year. The longer it takes a kindai to see anything in the beni the better are it's chances to be a high quality one.
Cindy it will be fun to see how yours turns out.....l
