Effect of less koi per litre

The picture of the koi on the right was taken on 14/1/2006

This koi was kept with several others in about one koi per 100L

The picture on the left was taken on 29/4/2006

This koi was kept with several others in about one koi per 800L

You can see the koi has been able to gain bulk, improved body shape and improved colour

That's very interesting. Are other parameters, like feeding regime/amount, proportionately similar?

In addition to kiky's questions, were there any other environmental differences like pond size/depth, water parameters, etc...? BTW, nice results no matter what the answers may be

The change in number of koi per litre was due to de-stocking. So the water volume/depth remained much the same, as did the feeding regime. This was the stand out change. Others in the pond had improvements, but not so dramatic as this one.

Alot gets posted about the ratio of koi to volume of water. So I thought I would post an extreme result. Not every improvement is colour. Not all of the koi in this pond had such noticable improvements. All added good bulk and good size.

The filtration remained the same as did the amount of ammonia, nitrite & nitrates. I did not measure for anything else.

Here is another from the same pond
