I kinda have a modified version..........a 150 used primarily for a sedimentation basin with cut to kinda fit 2 layers of J-mat which then goes into my moving bed. It gets cleaned once a week!!!!!!!!!
This is a simi scale version of my pond to be which is used to hold the kids until I finish the pond.
I mounted a 3" shower drain in the bottom for ease of cleaning.

900 gallon vortex, 150 gallon sedimentation, 2 cf moving bed on a Hakko 60.

I integrated parts of the Skippy filter design when building my own DIY filter setup; although I used 55-gallon plastic barrels instead of a Rubbermaid stock container. I generally only backwash my filter chambers once or twice a year. I test my water weekly for ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, and PH. So far, I've got no complaints. Of course, I have over 500 gallons of filter area for a 2,500-gallon pond. This helps to minimize my pond maintenance chores...
