will sunlight help koi keep their vivid colors? part 2

Sorry about your other thread Moikoi. I was offline for several hours and it was too late to save it by the time I got back. So here is your question again and we can start over. Thanks

how many hrs of sun would they need each day? direct sunlight ? filter sunlight?

Moikoi within reason your fish can take all the sunlight that comes at them. If you are in a zone of the country like Fl or AZ then you may want to use some shade sail or a canopy. They can get sunbrunt so some dappled shade will avoid that

In my zone of 5a>6, my fish get direct sunlight all day, all season, with out any adverse effects at all.

You might think this is weird but I treat my koi like a person, they have a life too. How many hours of sun would you like[ I would say 5hrs.] and when you transport them just think about how they feel. I find it really sad once I think about it for a while.

Some cover wouldn't hurt but it's not absolutely required... depending on pond design, depth, filtration, water agatition........... all kinds of varibles.

Algae, be it hair or single cell doesn't have anything to with it...read Norm Meck's thoughts

Please be realistic...Don't personify an animal..........I'm about to spend $7000 to get as much sunshine as possible

Guess what they really don't need sunlight to survive.....many a fish, tropical, marine, GF or koi never see daylight other than through a family room window 20' away...they all live, they all grow, they all spawn, to a degree they may not have the best colours but they don't die....

This is where experience with fish keeping comes in

Well the is exactly right but most people want the colors. Are you saying I don't have koi experience or I probably misunderstood.

Aaah Kid you're 13 years old ..you didn't mis-understand.... experience I don't think so...you're making off the cuff remarks on every board on the net based on a very basic limited knowledge of ornamental fish keeping...half of what you post is rubbish and the rest on inexperience. You need to stand down and listen to what people with years of experience have to say, you need to learn about fish and not just a koi..
