Smile Koi No Yohei Dealer

Hello All!

As I was browsing through the WWW looking for a dealer of Koi No Yohei in my corner of the world, I stumbled upon your most engaging forum; populated as it is, by such a vibrant community. I ended up spending the next few hours going through the Forum, my initial quest forgotten...

Now that I've managed to drag myself away, I was wondering if anyone can tell me where can I find a Koi No Yohei dealer in South East Asia

PRYML-

I know that tattoo. From New York.

For those who care there is a 40 or so page blog about this tattoo somewhere out there.

A few years ago Shipmate Koi Farm in Bangkok was a dealer for Koi of Yohei. I am not sure what the current arrangement is, you might want to contact them directly.

keokoi/Joe & Bancherd,

Thanks for pointing me in that direction. However, I've already personally flown to Thailand to look for the dealer. Apparently, according to my regular dealer in Bangkok, that dealer is no longer in business. As unconfirmed hearsay has it, they got into Koi thinking to make a fast buck, without full consideration as to what the business entails, in terms of "product" knowledge, customer support etc They didn't keep proper records for individual Koi etc hence weren't able to answer basic questions from prospective buyers as to the age/specifications/origins of their livestock; basic queries any discerning Koi-buyer would be interested know of...

mitten & MikeM,

Yeah, I got pic off a tattoo blog. However, I was more taken with the semi-completed/conceptual version of the tattoo, than the completed one

Thanks for the update on that site. I found that a few years back when I was to purchase a Sanke that was from Koi No Yohei.. I never ended up purchasing the Sanke as someone that I thought had passed on it ended up wanting it again. Good luck in the Hunt...

Thanks for the well wishes... I'll be needing 'em

Right now, I'm in the midst of considering some Fujio Oomo Koi, recommended by my dealer in Bangkok. I told him that I'm currently eyeing Maruten Showa; he told me to come back at a later date to view some Nisai. I wasn't able to arrange an earlier viewing, as they were still swimming freely in one of his numerous mud ponds at a 300 Rai (if I'm not mistaken, that Thai measurement equates to 130.61 acres...) estate, about an hour's drive outside of Bangkok. As it so happens, that "later date" should fall sometime around this coming April...

I did however, ask to see pictures of the Koi before they were released into the mud ponds. Hopefully my short transit through Bangkok, on the way home, this coming weekend will give me some idea of how they'll look like when they finally emerge from the mud pond

And speaking of Fujio Oomo, does anyone know of any consistent traits, apparent in Koi bred by him? I'm aware that he is a breeder of great repute, but I must admit that I am fairly ignorant of his specific accomplishments
