I know little about selecting Shiros. Of these 2, the pattern of the second is striking and her tail is thick. The Sumi, however, has the watery "country sumi" look. The first is not much on pattern now, but the sumi is intense. The shiroji should always be carefully considered, I think. So, I'd go with the first. If I could have both, it would be a pleasant summer watching and comparing their development.

They look very young, which means they've got a long, long, way to go... I'm with Mike. They would be an interesting pair to learn from side by side. I do like the blockiness of #1's pattern, but the body on #2 does seem a bit stronger... Learning these guys is a lot more difficult than you would think a "simple" black and white Koi ought to be

I'd take both of them but as you can see from my avatar I'm a sucker for shiros. BTW who is the breeder?

Maybe time will tell anything can happen in a instant.
I don't like to make plans lately because I lost my sister 2 sundays ago.
In a very bad car wreck.

Oooooh

Do you have all these babies? That first one would be my choice, looks like beautiful Shiro and good Sumi. What's the story on this breeder's Shiros? Does their Sumi show at this young age? We have a beautiful Gin Rin Shiro that's about 20" now - but was quite muddy as a baby. I'd love to hear.
