Dinh . . .

Not a Judge or a top hobbyist, but I gotta say I just love that fish and would buy it in a heartbeat (if I could afford it).

Dinh, I've circled the worrisome areas in black. The grey area I circled is a progression of beni erosion.
One more point- When you buy a showa, unless the sumi is very thick, try and avoid buying sumi on beni, much better if the sumi is actually embedded in white ground.
Beni and sumi battle each other on medium grade showa. This is especially true on old style showa.

A question for JasPR

The area of concern is the sassy of the beni plate between pec. fins? It looks like an early sign of beni breakage. Too bad, the body and the shiroji are good. MA. Le

Hi, not so much sashi as as kiwa issues. Although the one area of sashi ( OK as far as it goes) shows some problems deeper into the beni plate ( see the area I circled on the shoulder). JR

I like her head shape and body flow. the kiwa and the sumi location under the skin tells me an expectations
I am concerning a few Kokesuki on the right side of hi-ban but it will have a chance to be refilled by this type of beni.
Good fish

Nice looking fish but it is a tategoi and Matt is not only a great person but a good judge of his own fish you will have to wait and see hope it is going back in mud pond and post another photo next year . It will probably turn out a great fish .
Regards
Eugene
