Brady . . .

thanks for taking the time to make all those points about Carrie's koi, about this line of yours in general and about the dangers of judging fish from pictures.

A super post, for sure.

Brady

Very interesting info from the one who should really know what this fish is capable of down the road. You're absolutely correct about judging from photos but that's the infortunate thing about doing so and not knowing the lineage. Your explanation will stay with me for a very long time and adds to my everincreasing level of knowledge about future development.

If you don't mind my asking, what is the bloodline of your oyagoi? I know you've been breeding for a while. Has it been mixed over the three generations (you mentioned grandma in your post) or has it been bred true through the same lines to date?

Thanks for clearing up some misconceptions of your stock

Thanks Brady...

Sounds very much like the folks at Dainichi have been letting you look closely over their shoulders What a view

Great thread....I always love it when a breeder discusses his koi. It's like discussing art with Picasso...so much to learn!!!

Brady, you asked for it... the rear half of the CFKS Grand Champion.

PS... the blush on the Showa is gone like it was never there. I think it really was just capture stress. Maybe next year.

I'm glad to show her off anytime anyone asks...hee, hee!!

She also had a red spot over one eye, a missing scale right on her back that happened when she was transported from Japan and a very tiny window on her rear side, AND a small notch out of her lower tail from transport, but none of that bothered the judge's because her quality was most certainly there. Her body is "perfect" according to the judges. She was also major stressed out from the trip down to Orlando. I feel fortunate that we got her home in one piece. She's doing wonderfully now in our big Q-tank.

Now for the kohaku at hand. I love this fish and recognized it as Brady's fish right away as I've seen several of his KoiFixx "on the farm" segments. I had a feeling it was one of his fish. Grow that girl big and I think you'll be very proud of her one day!!!

Hi Koiczar,

If you look through my Kohakus you'll see evidence of Yagozen and modern Sensuke lineages, (modern Sensuke being the Sensuke/Dainichi crosses some top breeders were doing a few years ago). As you know though very few breeders are sticking with true lines these days. A lot of improvements and advancements happening.

Hi PaPaBear, you may be thinking of that incredible fellow that talks funny over in Texas, whose name starts with Br too. He knows the Dainichi brothers well.

Mike & Auntiesue, thanks so much for sharing the pics. It was great to see you all and those fabulous Koi in Orlando. Mike, great work with the weather too.

Best Wishes,
Brady
