I managed to locate a photo of my sanke when she was a Nisai. What do you say has improved or worsened? For your info, she is an off spring of Shining Rose. Hammer away folks
Cheers

Overall, I'd say she has improved, except for the tejima. The stripes are too heavy, too numerous and unbalanced. The Expansion and consolidation of Sumi is obvious. Too much Sumi for most tastes, but I like the pattern balance it contributes. If only the pecs would clear, I'd love to have her. As is, the pecs bother me.

Forgot to address Bob's question about water Temp. The average temp during the day is around 28 degrees C not sure during the night.

Mike,
Thanks , I had always wanted to know what those stripes are called on the pecs; TEJIMA! right. they were barely visible in some spots when purchased. Hope the other pec will be tejima-ed too.

In some places, the sumi has contracted or tighthen. Hope this is how the rest of the sumi will develop. I will have an awsome sanke then.

Anyone has a koi with similar body? wud like to hear comments on how it might develop. Will it ever bulk up like a Jumbo or remain anaconda like?

Since she has maintained her pattern and color well the changes seem fairly subtle to me, all things considered. I don't really see any change in beni or shiroji to speak of, but much of the sumi does seem to be expanding a bit except in the tail tube where it looks like it may be contracting a bit. She has definitely put on some bulk in the tail tube and smoothed out somewhat. With your climate I wonder if it may not take 2-3 more years for the sumi to stabilize and finish... If you ever get tired of her send me a PM I'm sure she'd look really good in our pond

Tejima or stripes of sumi on pectoral fins. Is it true that when the sumi stripes appears like those on the right pecs of my sanke, the sumi on the body will stop improving?

your shining rose looks different from mine

hwong, sorry i don't hv the answer to the tejima issue you brought up. but i m curious with the bloodline of shining rose sanke from sakai cause your shinning rose really looks different from the shining rose i m getting (see atached picture)? yours looks like have lots of matsunosuke blood in it and mine looks the opposite, m i right. if my memory serves me right, sakai has been pairing some of its kohaku bloodline x male sanke to get decent sankes.

In that case it really intrigues me to question the accuracy of parental lineage of the koi we purchased . other members pls dont hesitate to comment too .. thanks in advance

Paulino,
SOmetimes, the breeder pair the female with a few males at different times or the same time. Sakai do use Momotaro males that have Matsunosuke lineage. So probably mine has that in her and therefore looks different from yours. If you have Sakai's parent set booklet, go check it.

I like the wandering path of sumi leading from pec to tail on HWong's fish, maybe another indication of my unrefined taste. Paulino's fish looks like Mat McCann's goal, exactly what he is aiming at.

Most likely....Yes. In general, too many & too long stripes sumi, not only Tejima but also on all fins, are one of the sigh..............
