Sorry to take so long to get this post up, but I'm moving real slow today. It was a long, three day show weekend -- but our family had loads of fun.

Well, we just happen to have a photo of the IKONA Friendship Award winner -- look back a couple of posts to where you can see our tank shot with the kohaku playing follow the leader. The IKONA FA winner was Peanut, the smallest kohaku bringing up the rear. She was last year's ZNA SoCal Baby Champion and now this. Wow!

The award is the absolutely stunning Waterford bowl shown below and I swear Brenda started purring when she opened the box.

Thank you, thank you, thank you IKONA. Don & Brenda

How wrong am I this time? Marie
Well, in addition to your other not inconsiderable talents, you must also be psychic -- since even I have trouble keeping them straight.

But, yes, you were right on all counts.

In bowl shot 1, the 2 koi side by side at 3 o'clock are the ones from Sakuma. The small maruten was the 1st place winner and the first koi I picked. The bigger Sakuma was the last one I got -- the one Ken brought to the show by mistake. The other two are Ogawa koi. The one at 6 o'clock in bowl shot 1 was the 2nd koi I picked, while the koi at 11 o'clock was my third pick (which I went back to the store to buy).

If preparing for these quizes it is important to read what Antonio writes and pay strict attentiion to Keokoi's translations when available...south side and east side don't talk the same dialect apparently, but at least I don't talk Mountain.

Thanks for the fun pics, Don. Cool bowl. Cool table. Very cool Peanut.

By the way, the final and official count was 58 tanks and 401 koi entered.
One guy (Bobby Lee) entered 29 koi! :shocked3: Glad I didn't have to bag and drag his tanks on Sunday afternoon.
Said to exceed MAKC and set a new American record for an English style show. Anyone here know for sure?

Don K, our club's President, a Judge and an all-around great guy.
.

.Bob Finnegan, head of the AKCA Judging Committee. I was fortunate enough to be able to visit with him on Saturday; he invited Brenda & I over for coffee next week so we can discuss the Petition and other internet issues impacting the hobby (and the AKCA) in depth. On Sunday he gave my grandson Joshua & I a guided tour/commentary of the top fish. He also showed Josh a couple of tips on playing nose guard (which Josh did for the local Freshman team this year). Bob. What a guy!
EDIT: The photographer standing behind and to the left of Bob is Larry Trudgeon, who took the benching photos. His koi also won several awards and he won the Jimmy Inouye Award for Best Tank.
.

.Bill D. (Owner, Mystic Koi, Upland, CA), Vendor. I hadn't met him in person before -- just a swell person.
.

.Craig Chambers, club member who really worked hard helping to put on the show.
.

.Lisa Barnett, Nishiki Koi Club.
.

.Russell Peters, trying to make gas money to return home. Said it was too sunny down here.
.

.Alan from Eastern Nishikigoi, showing his wares.
.

.Nicole Lembke, just a sweetheart.
.

.Art Lembke, the giant himself. Glad I had a chance to visit with him. He's the real deal, folks.
.

.More of the entertainment which including singing, dancing and musical instruments -- it added so much to the atmosphere.
.
